The moral issue of gambling

January 29th, 2008

Thousands of religious people around the world are bothered with the moral issue of gambling. They will treat you like the biggest sinner of all times adverting to the Bible. Is it fair? Why someone tries to limit our freedom? Everyone got their own rights and one of them is the right to choose. It is up to individual to make choice whether to go online and spend some on casino games, or get on a plane and go to Las Vegas and live there for some time winning great amounts of cash or loosing them. Yet, the most pious people that think they know what is best for you and everyone always find an argument to give, the truth is, how playing casino games online become a sin? Individual is spending his hard earned money, without hurting anyone and without creating problems for other people. It would be much better if all those protesters just concentrted on more important issues - such as alcohol, drug abuse and violence. It would be the spheres they could contribute instead of annoying others.

How to become successful roulette player

January 28th, 2008

Roulette which in French means “small wheel” is well-known amongst European gamblers. It was excogitated in China and brought to Old World by Dominican trappists that traded in the Orient or by mathematician Blaise Pascal, who lived in 17th century.

In 1842 two native Frenchmen  devised single “0” roulette which is also known as European roulette. When the brothers prefaced their game in France and Germany gambling was forbidden there.

In 1860s they decided to take roulette to Monte Carlo where they made an arrangement with prince of Monaco Charles the Third to develop and construct the palatial casino of Monte Carlo.

In 1800 roulette blew America and a slot was added – the double “00”. During the California Gold Rush game became extremely popular in the Old West.

Now it’s one of the most underestimated entertainments in online casinos. Weird wheel and unusually numbered squares placed on the betting table repels many players, but surprisingly it is one of the simplest games available on the internet.

All you need to do is to place a chip on number, line, color or box. Just select the chip with your cursor and place it anywhere you want. Then click “spin” and the ball will bounce around the wheel and settle on a colored number.

You can win in many different ways. There are inside and outside bets, combinations of numbers, colors or if the ball will come to rest on odd or even. Don’t try to use any tactics or strategies because the wheel is always random. Your winning or losing streaks can begin and end at any moment. Professionals believe that the most logical method is to plot out your bets across the betting table to ascertain better chance of winning. For example to increase staying power you should distribute tour money around by playing $2 straight up and another $2 on all four corners instead of $10 on one.

More hints for you:

You should begin with even money bets. You won’t win as much as straight up wagers, but you won’t lose as much while getting a good feel of the game.

Divide wheel into different segments, choose one and bet on nearby numbers.

Warm up by betting small sums.

You can increase the stake when you get a good run where your block of numbers keeps coming up so if the block comes up again it will level up your betting bank.

Try not to use the double up system after a loss because finally you will lose all your money.

Look for single “0” wheels because that reduces the house edge more than any other option.

Don’t bet on red and even or black and odd at the same time. Go for better odds and wager on red and odd or black and even because there are 10 red odd and 8 red even numbers as well as 10 black even and 8 black odd numbers.

Stay away from the five number bet – it has the worst odds.

Never chase losses – you’ll just lose your cash faster. However, go ahead and set aside a small portion of your betting kick for wild impulse wagers.

Last but not least: Set a wagering limit and stick to it.

You can try out everything you’ve learned here with Rushmore Casino.

What a surprise!

January 22nd, 2008

Have you ever wondered how many people win and how often they do it? You certainly have, as wherever you are gambling your first objective is to walk away with some dough. It has been estimated that over 70% of casino gamblers at some point in their games are ahead, i.e. actually are in surplus and theoretically can take their money and have a nice cup of coffee or whatever. However, check out what happens next to these 70% - the biggest part of them (90 %) get all those money back to the house and from then on might keep feeding their winnings to the merciless machine, or a person of similar qualities. The point is – 50 bucks is less than 2,000, but it’s a lot better than a 1,500 debt.

What it takes is discipline – obviously it is not easy to stop when you think the game is going great and you just need a couple more chips, tokens, dollars or whatever – some luck too, though. Discipline is all about persuading yourself than what you already have is enough for now and trying to suppress that urge of gaming. It takes time and some training but you will always be the winner if you realise you already are one whenever you don’t lose what you walked in with.

The world of dualities

January 17th, 2008

So, someone can see gambling from two points of view – it is, indeed, one of those things that can’t leave anyone indifferent – it can be either adored and enjoyed or loathed and condemned. For some it’s a natural extension to the every day behavior, for others – dark spots in the radiant picture of life – such duality is everywhere, not just in gambling and the way it’s viewed – Yin and Yan, men and women, the good and the evil etc. These dualities are endless and immortal – they are in constant confrontation and argument – what is better, what is wiser, what will make you richer – a bank account or making your money, and not the bank clerks, work for you?

The same is with people – they are either risky enough to place their bet, or too prudent and cautious to lose a cent in the pursuit of a dollar. There is nothing to be said against either of these people – everyone has it his way, and no one’s got the right to condemn someone else’s actions, unless these are actions criminal per se, i.e. threatening to other person’s life or health. So, what is gambling – a sickness, a condition of confused and misguided behavior when you can’t stop gambling online and preying on the best bets on the internet; or is just one of many forms of leisure – who are we to judge.

Gambling and physiology

January 14th, 2008

Have you ever wondered why is it that gambling appears to be much more exciting than say watching TV or playing cards with your friends? According to the recent study conducted by a group of German scientists gambling can become, in fact, as additive and appealing as your most pernicious habits.
To explain without going too deep into all those chemicals released and process involved – it has to do with money. Money is something that makes you confident when you have it and willing to get or to earn when you don’t. That’s why when there is a direct thereat of losing it, the feelings sharpen and the pleasure received from winning increases several times! You have probably tried playing cards or whatever with your family or friends without money – it is a totally different reason. When you play for fun and the victory doesn’t matter that much (the process does, instead) you can be more relaxed; while when you gamble and challenge your luck and the contents of your wallet are at risk – there’re is that wild, primeval thirst for victory.
And by the way, this is the main reason for some to get attached to such way of spending time – if you have too little control of yourself; it is too easy to get involved without noticing it. The call of the wild and primitive - that’s what can make any person unconscious about the things he does.

Anonymous, but not unanimous

January 12th, 2008

One of the main reasons gambling is picked on nowadays is that everyone can do it without being seen. As many people say, if long time ago to gamble you had to go to Las Vegas, for example, and were in public view – therefore could sense that disapproval of people around you, today, especially if it’s a laptop that you have, you don’t even have to leave your bed. This is thought to give the person gambling less control over their emotions and doesn’t allow to stop when it is really time to do so. Dozens of recommendations have been made, there are endless efforts of creating legislature that would control gambling, but with every battle lost there is less and less hope of making this industry dependent on any strict regulations. With the number of online casinos increasing every day, it’s virtually naive to think it can ever be regulated completely. However, there is growing understanding of the public that something needs to be done, as some moment it might be too late.

Online gambling dilemma

January 11th, 2008

If you ever have a doubt about whether online casinos are popular – here are some statistics for your consideration: every week around 2 million people visit one of the great number of online casinos (over 1,800), making this industry one of the fastest-growing ones.
Online gambling at the same time is very hard to regulate, because they are operated offshore, unlike those land-based casinos anywhere else. This provides them with wider range of freedom, at the same time it means if it starts exercising too much freedom there is almost no way to stop it. One of the most serious problems reported in connection with that freedom is underage gambling- according to the recent research over two thirds of teenagers aged 13-17 said they had tried gambling, although this is illegal.
Although some might argue that was out of pure curiosity and might have never been tried again, others can say: and what if it was tried and not once? Online gambling is a fun way of spending time and experience that sensory acuity, until it is done by adult people who are able to control themselves. When it comes to teenagers, measures should be taken to cut access of underage gamblers to online casino sites.

Call my bluff!

December 29th, 2007

“To bluff” is considered to be a US poker-playing term, that originates from Dutch “bluffen”  - “to boast” (pretty smart, huh?). So, we’ve found out bluffing is great – it makes the whole game more exciting, and can bring you a lot more money than hope for a strong hand.

However, before you even start trying, consider the following: there are some case when it’s appropriate, and some – when it will cost you all your dough. You can give it a try if: 1) you’ve earned yourself a tight table image without bluffing, which means other player are more likely to trust you 2) there is just one player besides you – the risk o your bluff being called is lower, and the stakes are not so high to do that 3) you are absolutely sure no other player is holding strong cards 4) you are in late position 5) the pot is comparatively small – what’s the point of using your talent?

Of course, there are situations when bluffing is highly undesirable, which are: 1) the pot is multi-way – over 3 players are in the hand 2) your “bluffing records” are not too good – you’ve been caught not long before 3) many draws are possible 4) you are playing with even less skilled player who are likely to call your bluff all the time 5) the pot is big and very appealing for everyone, therefore – the game is worth the candle.

So, as you are at the table – just remember to analyze the situation before deciding whether to bluff or not, as this will increase you chances of winning, or, at least, not losing everything.

To bluff or not to bluff?

December 29th, 2007

So, what about bluffing in the land-based casino (cuz you can’t really bluff online, can you? No people around makes it kind of difficult). Bluff can be defined as deliberate deception intended to create the impression of a stronger position or greater resources than one actually has; this is the most exciting part of your poker game, but as any techniques it should be used with great care and wisdom.

You need a talent to do that yourself without any unpleasant consequences that will cost you money, or be a good psychologist to read other people’s mind and benefit from it. What is easier… let’s say both require a lot of effort, skill and constant practice. If you happened to guess someone’s intentions, don’t be sure you grasped it all – next time the other player will be more careful, and if he’s a pro, it’ll be easier for him to deceive you by showing the emotion you are expecting.

Everyone is unique, with a full range of emotions and ways of expressing them; if you always trust only your eyes – you are never going to succeed, as deep analysis at the poker table involves almost telepathic level of perception, some players say they can even smell bluff – which is not as strange as it might seem: our body is constantly reacting by releasing undetectable amounts of various substances (that’s why when you see a dog and feel frightened, it can actually feel your fear and attack, as, according to its natural instinct, if you are afraid – you are a potential prey; of course, it’s not gonna eat you anyway, but there will be at least a moment of hostility as the call of the wild overtakes…).

So yes, bluffing is the most important part of this game – especially if you have a weak hand. And yes, you should do it, but perfection takes time, and so you should also be ready to lose some money while learning from your own mistakes. That’s so far the most efficient, yet the most painful way.

What can you hope for when you gamble online?

December 28th, 2007

Yeah, so speaking about what people expect from the online casino they chose? It’s very sad but not too often their expectations are real enough… It’s just very different with casinos, that’s all. If you make a bunch of New Yer resolutions and can force yourself into not buying tobacco or liquior anymore, gaming isn’t about how much you can do, it’s about how lucky you are today, that moment or that instant. Don’t get too inspired when you hear about someone hitting jackpot in a Las Vegas Casino, the man was lucky. Are you sure the fortune is still there? Maybe it went all the way to the Middle East to help people stop the war and escae being blown up? Just like with everything, helthy gambling has to do with your clear goals; clear also spells “real”. The original purpose of casinos - both online and ground-based - is to entertain, besides earning some money too. Those are mistaken who seriously consider that a way of making money, as it’s no stable at all. One day you lose, then you win , then you lose again, then you stop counting and start counting only the cases when you win, thinking, wow, I’m running a cool surplus.

The main thing one should always keep in mind is that entertainment is okay until it controls you and your thoughts instead of you being in charge of everything. Get the fun you need but be able to withdraw as soon as you undersatnd it is getting into something more serious. You definitely should hope for the best, but always expect you luck to leave you - it often tends to do that to all of us.
